Non-medical Home Care Services
Silver Peaks provides Non-medical Home Care Services also known as Caregiving Services. California Health and Safety Code Section 1796.12(n) defines non-medical Home Care Services as assistance to seniors and the disabled with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) provided by a registered Home Care Aide / Caregiver.

Non-medical Home Care Services (Caregiving Services)
Assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) which includes but are not limited to:

Home Health Services (Skilled Nursing And Allied Health Services)
Medical assistance administered by healthcare professionals which includes but are not limited to:

- Post-surgical assessment

Hospice Services (End Of Life Home Care Services)
Specialized medical assistance administered by healthcare professionals for individuals who have terminal illness that is no longer responding to medical treatment or intervention. Hospice services include but are not limited to:
- Providing medications
- Equipment and supplies
- Skilled nursing care
- Physician services
- Personal care
- Emotional counseling
- Chaplain services
- Social services
Non-medical Home Care Services Arrangements
Hourly Care
- Services are billed at an hourly rate.
- Minimum of (5) consecutive hours per shift & a total of (20) hours per week.
- Maximum of (24) consecutive hours per day & a total of (168) hours per week, divided into (2-3) shifts of (8-12 hours per shift).
- Home Care Aides/ Caregivers are entitled to a 30 minute meal break.
Live-in Care
- Services are billed at a flat rate per day (24 hours).
- Minimum of (2) consecutive days per week.
- Maximum of (7) consecutive days per week, divided between (2) caregivers.
- Home Care Aides/ Caregivers are entitled to (3) meal breaks and (8) hours of sleeping break per day (24 hours).
Sitter Services
- Services are billed at an hourly rate.
- Services can be provided in: hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation facilities, assisted living facilities & senior communities.
- Minimum of (8) consecutive hours per shift
- Maximum of (24) consecutive hours per day & a total of (168) hours per week, divided into (2-3) shifts of (8-12 hours per shift).
- Home Care Aides/ Caregivers are entitled to a 30 minute meal break.
Sitter Services Include:
- Monitoring the patient's condition, activity, appetite, bowel movement and sleeping times, as well as reporting any concerns or changes in the condition to the medical staff.
- Being mindful, proactive and responsible about the client’s safety (fall prevention, helping to prevent them from exiting the facility, helping to prevent the client from choking when he/she is eating, etc.)
- Informing and assisting the facility staff with the client's ambulation, toileting, getting dressed, feeding, and transferring, as needed.
- Informing and assisting the facility staff in pulling-up or repositioning the client as needed (every 2-3 hours) to help prevent bedsores or pressure ulcers.
- Informing and assisting the facility staff in providing sponge bath(s), oral care, and incontinence care when the patient is soiled (at least once per shift).
- If applicable, helping to prevent the client from pulling out/tugging the apparatuses attached to them (G-tube, catheter, NG-tube, Oxygen mask, etc.)
- If applicable, diverting or redirecting the attention of a client who is in a demented, agitated, confused or aggressive state.
- Socializing and providing companionship to the client.

Light Housekeeping Defined
Home Care Aide(s) ONLY provide “light housekeeping” which includes: general tidying up of the rooms (bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchen), making beds and changing linens, washing dishes after meals, collecting and disposing of trash, cleaning up spills on the sink or the floor, wiping (countertops, sinks, tubs, shower after use), dusting, vacuuming or sweeping (carpet, rugs, and hard floors), washing, folding, ironing of the clients’ clothes. Conversely, Home Care Aide(s) do NOT provide “professional housekeeping” which include cleaning up after pets, scrubbing and treating (stains, molds, and mildew from surfaces), moving or polishing (furniture, fixtures, and appliances), deep carpet cleaning, washing mirrors or windows, gardening, car wash, cleaning the pool or the balcony, cleaning draperies, washing blinds, sweeping the driveway, and heavy laundry.
